Keep it simple: develop your own (web or mobile) applications in just a few clicks


 

What is the hot topic in developer communities nowadays? You won’t need to think far: apps are the main deal at the moment. The whole world is building apps to integrate them in their websites, mobile solutions and other systems. Today, everyone can develop his or her own application in just a few clicks!

 

Why is that interesting for the GIS community?

 

It gives us the possibility to visualize our data in applications and open up GIS for everyone! A few examples:

     ·  Where can I find the safest or fastest route in Gent to cycle? Check it out in their app: http://fietsrouteplanner.gentfietst.be/!
     ·  How can I report the broken rocks in my street that cause falls and injuries? The Citizen Awareness application can help you with that!
     ·  I live in Brussels and would love to know what my street looked like in 1945. Compare today’s situation with the situation during that time with the Bruciel viewer.
     ·  I feel an itch in my throat and worry about catching the flu. Check out the last Influenza outbreak on a health map !

 

The possibilities are endless and we are eager to contribute to this global transparency by offering all the tools developers need to add a geo-component to their applications.
